Thank You
We have to thank the entire community of Los Angeles for their support of this year’s festival. With the partnership of the American Indian community, the studio and network involvement, and everyone who collaborated with us, we were able to make this our greatest year. We can’t thank our filmmakers enough for their hard work and for attending.
Hundreds of new people joined the LA SKINS FEST community this year and hundreds returned from our past two years. It is an astounding achievement to connect the Native American community with the mainstream population, the student body at USC and the Autry National Center. Most importantly, everyone experienced new Native American films they wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to see.
Thank you Los Angeles.

AMERICAN INDIAN RESOURCE CENTER
SPECIAL SCREENING SERIES
JUNE 12TH 2010
This screening series examines water and our relationship with it. Both films take a different approach to our connection to water. In Tribal Journeys of the Pacific Northwest, we explore our ancient relationship with water and it’s meaning to Native peoples throughout the pacific region. It is a symbiotic relationship that allows both water and human to coexist. In River of Renewal, the film explores the abuse of water and how native people choose to battle this onslaught. In this film, protecting water is a struggle for the native community. They want to keep tribal traditions but must fight the encroaching non-native communities and their need for enterprise.
