2011 NATIVE AMERICAN IMPACT WORKSHOP WRAP

The 2011 NATIVE AMERICAN IMPACT WORKSHOP was a great achievement. We can’t thank our partners enough for providing great panelists and speakers. The L.A. Skins Fest oversaw the workshop for aspiring TV writers, directors, and actors. It took place November 15, 2011 and featured several high profile panelists and speakers including Peter Murrieta, Seith Mann and Ed Harris.
In association with The L.A. Skins Fest, The SAG Native American Task Force, Native Voices at The Autry National Center, Disney | ABC Television Group’s Talent Development & Diversity was pleased to present this unique learning opportunity for working and aspiring professionals. The program focused on directing, screenwriting, and acting best practices for nurturing a viable career in entertainment. The curriculum for the program included workshops and panel discussions with industry experts.
This workshop is geared toward individuals with various levels of entertainment industry experience. Guest speakers were drawn from the professional ranks of the television and film industry and provided insight into their own paths, goals and successes in entertainment.
2011 Festival
The 5TH ANNUAL LA SKINS FEST is scheduled and ready! This year, we are celebrating new and great films from Indian Country. We have expanded our festival to reach more of our community and are now housed at the Autry National Center for the entire week.

2011 NATIVE AMERICAN IMPACT - directing track
This track will feature working directors who can offer insight into their respective career paths. The focus of this workshop is to offer genuine guidance into directing television and provide individual counsel on advancing one’s directing career. Most importantly, the workshop is to assist participant/directors to discover new ways to advance their professions.
2011 NATIVE AMERICAN IMPACT - writing track
This year the Writer’s Guild of America and DISNEY/ABC have provided an incredible group of writers to teach, inspire and speak on their careers, goals and achievements. This year’s program will focus on writing your best spec and the art of the pitch. Most importantly, this program will develop each writer/participant in a creative and professional capacity.

2011 LA SKINS MUSIC FEST was an incredible event thanks to our awesome performers! BIG SHOUT OUT to AINJEL EMME, REDCLOUD, DJ CRYSTLE LIGHTNING, QUESE IMC and DEY & NITE for putting on a great show! Hope you guys had a great time. The community loved you! See you in November at the 5th Annual LA SKINS FEST.
2011 June Reload
LA SKINS FEST RELOAD! June 23rd at the Autry, we re-screened the Peabody award winning film REEL INJUN and the Screen Actors Guild President's National Task Force on American Indians PSA "American Indian Actors.” Thanks to the Autry, Christina Fon, Elena Finney-Endlich, Karin Williams, Kimberly Norris-Guerrero, and Pam Hannah. We had another great night with the community.

Back by popular demand! Originally shown at the 2010 LA Skins Fest, this pairing of the feature-length film REEL INJUN and the short video "American Indian Actors" offers a fascinating look at the traditional and contemporary roles of American Indians in Hollywood film and television——from the perspective of American Indian filmmakers and actors. This event is presented in association with SAG Affirmative Action and Diversity and Rezolution Pictures.
Inaugural LA SKINS MUSIC FEST, July 15th 7PM at the Autry
It’s finally here! The INAUGURAL LA SKINS MUSIC FEST takes place July 15th, 2011 at the AUTRY NATIONAL CENTER and will feature new, young, hot talent from Indian Country. The LA SKINS MUSIC FEST includes soul brothers QUESE IMC and REDCLOUD, pop artist AINJEL EMME and the shmokin’est R & B twin sisters DEY & NITE. As always, no admission fee and parking is provided.
WOMEN’S NIGHT is a SUCCESS!
We hosted a screening of Kissed By Lightning May 19th at the Autry National Center. We were happy to have in attendance filmmaker Shelley Niro, actress Kateri Walker, musician Elizabeth Hill and Warner Bros. representative Kimberly Maxwell. It was a great night of celebrating women in entertainment. We appreciate the support of the Autry National Center, their staff, Pam Hannah, and the community!
